Features
The recording of barcodes in a radio data environment allows for real-time confirmation and control of the order picking process by the warehouse employees. Errors are immediately identified and can therefore be corrected promptly. Incorrect deliveries are avoided and quality improves as a result. Jungheinrich uses robust manual or automatic barcode scanners for this, which operate by communication cable or wirelessly at a radio data terminal. It is also possible to record barcodes using handheld terminals. These function like a PDA with integrated scanner and are linked to the warehouse management system via WLAN.
Description of manual scanners
In a radio data environment, employees are usually informed via a radio data terminal or handheld terminal at which bay the next stacking or retrieval process is to take place. If bays and items/pallets have individual barcodes, the employee can record bay and item barcodes. If the warehouse management system detects an error, the employee is informed of this immediately, thereby preventing or rectifying errors. When operating the software/screen on a radio data terminal, a button must often be pressed after a barcode is scanned so that the software switches to the next input field or a process is confirmed (e.g. TAB or Enter). The barcode scanner can be programmed so that this takes place automatically after the barcode is read.
Description of automatic scanners
When an automatic barcode scanner is in use, it is attached to the truck's fork carriage and automatically triggered, for example, by a load sensor between the forks. As soon as the scanner has recorded the pallet ID, this is processed by the Jungheinrich logistics interface and forwarded to the warehouse management system. This process saves an enormous amount of time and avoids mistakes.
The combination of different identity systems (RFID, automatic barcode scanner, manual barcode scanner) enables individual customer solutions to be created using proven standard components. In connection with the logistics interface, they offer a fully integrated and continuous flow of information from the initial recording of the pallet to stacking it at the destination bay. A solution tailored to your warehouse processes guarantees the maximum possible process reliability.
Selection of barcodes and barcode scanners
Selecting barcode scanners, barcode types, barcode sizes, label materials and the appropriate scanning distance requires a great deal of experience. Jungheinrich is able to provide professional advice and implementation here.
